This week I dedicated my blog to looking further into what I want to write my Profile on. I came across Magnolia Gastropub and Brewery on the corner of Haight and Masonic Streets. Magnolia is a gathering place for beer connoisseur looking to treat their taste buds with the flavors of San Francisco artisan brews.

For more than 15 years, Magnolia has been brewing ales in small batches in their little brewery beneath Haight Street. Head brew master and founder of Magnolia, Dave McLean, and his team have served up almost 3 million pints. Because of their huge success, the beer family at Magnolia is expanding.

The new location will be named Smokestack, referencing the BBQ cuisine and a Greatful Dead song. This has become one of the city’s most anticipated projects since it was first announced in 2010. If successful, McLean’s new adventure has the potential to expand beyond San Francisco. The new facility is planned to open around May or June at 2505 Third Street.

Today, I had the chance to try some of Magnolia’s craft beers with a couple of friends. I decided to get a “flight”, which is a sampler of six different beers on tap. They were all really flavorful, but my favorite was the “Sara’s Ruby Mild.” This light beer was the perfect refreshment for a beautiful, sunny San Francisco day, like today.
